A WARM WELCOME TO OUR NEW BIOLOGY DEPARTMENT CHAIR

Elena Silva has been appointed as the new chair for the Department of Biology. She has completed her PhD in Biology at Stanford University.  After postdoctoral fellowships at UC Berkeley and the National Institute of Medical Research, London,  she came to the Georgetown Department of Biology in 2002. Her primary research focus is identifying the signals and mechanisms required to induce the formation of the Central nervous system. She primarily teach Developmental Neurobiology and Developmental Biology.

Our sincere thanks for the continued excellent work that Dr. Singer undertook during his time as a chair and we all look forward to working with Elena in the year ahead.
