Professor Shweta Bansal Helps Launch the Global Society for Infectious Disease Dynamics
The Department of Biology is proud to announce that Professor Shweta Bansal is helping launch the Global Society for Infectious Disease Dynamics (GSIDD). Dr. Bansal is currently chairing the Founding Committee, made up of colleagues from around the world, to initiate this professional organization.
GSIDD is the first international professional society dedicated specifically to the field of infectious disease dynamics—a discipline that uses mathematical and computational modeling to predict outbreaks, understand disease evolution, and inform global public health policy.
The society aims to bridge the gap between researchers worldwide, fostering methodological innovation and supporting early-career scientists. By creating a formalized global network, GSIDD will enhance the translation of complex scientific data into actionable public health strategies.
Congratulations to Dr. Bansal on this landmark achievement for the field!
