Biology student and staffer Finn Thompson is headed to MIT!
The Department of Biology is incredibly excited to announce that Finn Thompson (COL ’22) will head to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the fall to begin a Ph.D. program in Biology! A senior, Finn has worked in the Biology office since the fall of his sophomore year, when he began managing our website, expenses, deliveries, and logistics. Soon enough, Finn became the beating heart of the Department, making everything from our seminars to our printers better for everyone. At the same time, he has flourished as a student, completing a double-major in Biology and Computer Science with a minor in French. Finn also researches yeast genetics in the Rolfes Lab, investigating the genetic regulation of thiamine biosynthesis in the pathogenic yeast Candida albicans. In his free time, Finn competes on the collegiate Model UN circuit, and was named a 2020-21 North American First Team All-Star after helping lead GUMUN to the #1 ranking in the world. Now committed to MIT, Finn plans to research genetics and become a research professor in the long term. We’re so proud of him for his dedication to the Department, and we can’t wait to see what he does at MIT!
