Dr. Elena Silva receives a Research Enhancement Award from the NIH for her research on Sox proteins!
This fall, Professor Elena Silva was awarded an Academic Research Enhancement Award from the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke at the NIH! The grant will support her research on Sox proteins, a family of transcription factors that regulate neural development. Misregulation of Sox11 in particular is associated with a variety of neurodevelopmental disorders and diseases, and Dr. Silva’s proposed research hopes to determine the mechanisms, functions, and partner proteins that regulate Sox11 during neurogenesis. Congratulations to Dr. Silva and her lab, and we look forward to hearing more about your experiments in the future!
