Dr. Gina Wimp becomes a Full Professor!
We are incredibly proud to announce that Dr. Gina Wimp has been promoted to the level of Full Professor! Since joining the department in 2007, Dr. Wimp has supported students across the department, bringing her energy and expertise to her lab, classes, seminars, and committees. Whether teaching Foundations of Biology in the huge lecture hall of Reiss 104 or leading an advanced seminar on Biodiversity, she takes the time to get to know each of her students and learn how best to support them. Her scholarship, level of teaching, and profound commitment to service are crucial to the work we do at GU Biology, and her promotion is a testament to her impact on thousands of students and researchers at Georgetown over the years. Now preparing for her 15th year at Georgetown, Dr. Wimp has been a leader throughout her career. As a researcher, she is an expert in the ecology and evolution of biodiversity and leads the field in uncovering the relationship between plants and arthropods. As a PI and member of the department, she has become renowned for her mentorship of graduate and undergraduate students, including receiving the student-awarded Faculty Mentor Award in 2020. Dr. Wimp’s leadership and reputation as a great listener have made her a cornerstone of our department, making this promotion especially well-deserved. Congratulations to Dr. Gina Wimp on this incredible milestone!
