Former student Dr. Kaela Singleton was named to the Forbes 30 under 30 list!
Designed to recognize the impact and excellence of incredible people under the age of 30, the Forbes 30 under 30 list is released yearly across several different fields, such as entertainment, healthcare, and science. No member of the list was more deserving than Dr. Kaela Singleton, an alumna of Georgetown Biology and the Interdisciplinary Program in Neuroscience. Now a postdoctoral researcher at Emory University, Dr. Singleton also teaches at Agnes Scott College. In her research, she studies Menkes disease, a disorder impacting copper levels, and is working to understand how mitochondria contribute to this illness. Amazingly, Dr. Singleton is also the co-founder and current president of Black In Neuro, an organization that highlights Black excellence in neuroscience. Overall, Dr. Singleton has already led an incredible career, and she’s only 29! We are so proud of her and her work.
